Hi, I'd just like to say that 1. I don't know if this is the right link but it's the only e-mail link I found. 2. In regards to Asharaf Kahn getting kicked off of his flight to Pakistan a week and one day after middle eastern terrorists took over 4 planes and used them to kill thousands of American citizens. I applaud the captain of the flight for having the guts to kick him off and protect the other passengers from what he perceived as a threat to the safety of flight. That is his job. The captain is responsible for the safety of all on board and if he thinks he needs to boot one passenger to ensure the safety of the rest so be it. Sure Mr. Kahn was inconvenienced and maybe humiliated. I would have been embarrassed too. I might have tried to understand. He has an accent, he was traveling to a country adjacent to Afghanistan. Hmm, 2 and 2 still might add up to four and there is such a thing as forged documents. Nice to know that after this attack on his country he is still ready to go to a wedding and celebrate one week and one day later. I bet there aren't a lot of weddings going on in New York this week. I'm sorry Mr. Kahn was inconvenienced but there are thousands of families throughout the world with a whole lot more problems about this than missing a wedding. He should understand and not run whining to the media and his fellow middle easterners. If they are true Americans and not just somebody going through the motions so they can earn money here but live there, they will understand.
Speaking of the media, a few days ago, you and your colleagues were hammering on airport security being too lax, now you say we should not be too strict. What do you people want? Would you have stood still for random baggage searches and sweeps and security delays 2 weeks ago? You want it both ways and you can't have it. You either have security or you have convenience. You can't have both. Airport personnel are doing all they can to cope and when somebody complains, you jump on their bandwagon because you think it's a story. It's security. When in doubt, throw em out. Airline people have been living with it for years, now the passengers are involved. That is the way it has to be if this kind of thing is not to happen again. The media needs to figure out which side it's on and quit straddling the fence, at least on this issue. Get your ratings somewhere else, airline security is here to stay.
I don't work for Delta either. I do work for their competition but I support their captain's decision and any captain willing to risk a reprimand for the safety of flight.
